WEST AFRICA JOURNEY - Ghana
DAY 1
Arrive Accra, Ghana. Meet and greet by local guide. Currency exchange
at airport. Transfer to hotel. Briefing and orientation with welcome
drink. (Two night's accommodations - B&B)
DAY 2
After breakfast depart for City tour and visits to local cultural
centers, Museums and the National Cultural center for shopping of
traditional handicraft from all over Ghana.
DAY 3
Transfer and tour of Cape Coast. Emphasis today on Elmina Castle
and the story of bondage and slavery as relates to the passage to
the Americas. Remainder of day at leisure or to enjoy beach. Visit
local school or educational institution. (Two night accommodations
B&B)
DAY 4
Early morning visit to the National Park for game viewing and canopy
tour. Visit local fishing village of Elmina.
DAY 5
Transfer to Nzulezu and visit the lake and city on stilts. Tour
of community. (Overnight accommodations at Resort)
Day 6
Transfer to Ashanti Region. Stops along the way to mix and mangle
with locals and observe and share in daily living practices. Stops
to include Nkonsokonso Slave River and the town of Assin Manso to
learn more of the slave era. (Two nights' accommodation B&B)
DAY 7
Full day tour with visits to local Palace and museums, the seat
of Ashanti King. Continue for visit to street market (Kejetia Market),
one of the best know in West Africa. Look for the weavers of Kente
cloth
DAY 8 - 9
Transfer to Tamale for next two days. Visit waterfalls, a monkey
sanctuary and a full day tour in Mole' National Park.
DAY 10
Return to Accra for last minute shopping prior to departure home.
